YOUTH PROTECTION WEEK

Nothing is more important than the safety of the children Kiwanis serves. That’s why Kiwanis International dedicates a week each year to youth protection. In 2025, Youth Protection Week is October 6-10. During this time, Kiwanis clubs should take the opportunity to conduct important youth protection training and evaluate the club’s compliance.  

Kiwanis clubs are required to educate members annually on Kiwanis Youth Protection Policies & Procedures. The resources available during Youth Protection Week make it easy for your club to meet this prerequisite. Kiwanis clubs can host in-person or virtual training for all members of the club who are:  

We appreciate your club’s efforts during Youth Protection Week and the commitment you share to protecting youth.

Educate members

Take time during the week to train members on youth protection during a Kiwanis club meeting. Club members also can use our online resources to complete the training on their own.  

After your club completes training for the 2025-26 Kiwanis year, your club secretary should update the reporting dashboard.

Kiwanis International hosts youth protection webinars for members, officers, volunteers and chaperones who serve with our Service Leadership Programs (SLPs).  

Monday, October 6
7 p.m. ET: Get Educated! Understanding Kiwanis Youth Protection, a session for SLP administrator, advisors and chaperones. Register here. 

 District administrators, advisors and chaperones for K-12th grade SLPs are encouraged to attend this training webinar. We will be reviewing Kiwanis youth protection policies and how to apply them to your local SLP clubs.  

Tuesday, October 7
8 p.m. ET: Kiwanis 2025 Youth Protection Week: Get Educated! Youth protection policies in practice for clubs, led by MelissaMcMann, Kiwanis SLP training and education administrator. Register here.   

Each new Kiwanis program year requires local clubs to review youth protection policies and procedures. Use this time to educate your club members and club-sponsored advisors on how to protect our Service Leadership Program (SLP) members. Join Melissa McMann and Amie Boone-Cox, members of the SLP education and training team.  

Wednesday, October 8
1 p.m. ET: Get Educated with Praesidium Academy Register here. 

Join Audrey Oliver, JD, senior director of consulting at Praesidium Inc., who will share the latest trends that youth-serving nonprofit organizations are facing with today’s youth. Praesidium Inc. helps organizations prevent sexual abuse, and Kiwanis International offers their online training to Kiwanis members, Service Leadership Programs advisors and chaperones.

8 p.m. ET: Get Educated! How to involve your district in youth protection policies, led by district youth protection manager, Key Club and Circle K International administrators. Register here.
