Martien Van der Meer

On November 30, 2023, the Kiwanis International Board appointed Martien Van der Meer of Noord Holland, the Netherlands, to fill the vacancy of the guaranteed seat for the Europe Region. Van der Meer’s appointment was effective December 15, 2023, and will continue through the remainder of the current administrative year that concludes September 30, 2024.

Van der Meer has been a Kiwanis member in the Netherlands District for 17 years and belongs to both the Kiwanis Club of Laren and the Kiwanis Penssylvania Internat Club. He served as president of the Laren club in 2008-09, as governor of the Netherlands District in 2016-17 and as Kiwanis International-Europe president in 2022-23.

Van der Meer holds a degree in hospitality from Hotelschool The Hague and is account and hospitality manager at Compass Group PLC Netherlands. He is a knighted member of the King’s Order of Oranje-Nassau, a playing member of the City Orchestra Hilversum and a student at the Institute for Nature Education and Sustainability (IVN). He and his wife, Veronica, have two children and 1 grandchild. Outside of Kiwanis, Van der Meer enjoys playing the trumpet, cooking and serving as a nature guide.
