Robert M. “Bob” Garretson
Bob Garretson of Fort Collins, Colorado, U.S., was appointed to a one-year term as Kiwanis Children’s Fund trustee for 2023-24. Garretson has previously served on the Children’s Fund board as treasurer, president-elect, president and immediate past president.
Garretson was asked to join the Fort Collins Eyeopeners Kiwanis Club in 1990. When the Eyeopeners sponsored his son’s Boy Scout Troop, Bob was invited by a Kiwanian who was a fellow assistant scoutmaster. The club appointed Garretson finance chairman shortly after he joined, and he continues in that role.
In Fort Collins, Garretson has served as distinguished club secretary and club president. He has also served two terms as lieutenant governor of the Rocky Mountain District, becoming finance chair during his second term. He served as district governor during 2011-12 and led a team to establish a vision for the district. Other roles he has filled in the Rocky Mountain District include treasurer of both the district and the Rocky Mountain District Foundation.
In addition to his four children and their spouses, Garretson has three grandchildren whom he spoils as often as possible. He stays active in the community through Kiwanis, his church and nonprofit organizations that serve youth.
Garretson is the owner of a business advisory and accounting firm specializing in helping small businesses and non-profits define and achieve their goals, providing performance improvement strategies, and planning for ownership transition. He firmly believes that all organizations deserve to establish a vision, set goals, develop a plan, and provide opportunities to serve society from a view of abundance rather than scarcity.
